List Building Nightmare
ByOK, I got my tail between my legs
I Put my hands up and say guilty……….sorry
Sorry for what?
Sorry for not keeping you updated on my progress as I said I would!………..OK, I could go on, but lets give you a quick update so I can tell you what I have been doing and my progress in the last couple of months.
Well as you know, I started out on the quest to build a list around the 18th of Jan 2010, setting up ad swaps with a number of colleagues from Alex Jeffreys Coaching Programme and a number of new contacts that I have made via the various ad swaps channels. When I started, that list was around 70 subscribers, that had remained on my list for some time having taken part in various JV Giveaways in the previous months.
Well, as we stand today and taking part in some 20 plus adswaps throughout February, my list is just over 300 subscribers, which I am pleased with, but like anything in this business, you always want it to happen faster! I have added more new subscribers to the list, and my total shows 430 as of now, but you do get people who grab the free gift you are giving away and unsubscribe, it happens!
Just to give you an idea, some of these ad swaps have been amazing, adding 20-30 plus subscribers in a day (OK, some guys are adding 120 a day!) but I am happy with that figure comparing the size of list I am swapping with. However, it would be nice to swap with larger lists of 1,000 plus, and of course the amazing support from Alex Jeffreys students. As soon as I can get over 500, the list should beginto build a bit faster, so I have joined a few large giveaways to join to boost this quicker
So whats the nightmare with Building a List?
Well to be honest, the most common one you ask yourself is why your list is not growing as fast as it should! Obvious I know……….However, the one for me I have gone over and over is ‘My Offer’ . Is it right, is it good enough, what about the headline? what about the layout?……… I have been driving myself (and a few people around me) MAD, tweaking this, tweaking that, and If I am honest, I have wasted valuable time doing this, BUT my list and opt ins are now beginning to increase with the changes I have made, so now I am happy with it, I will leave it alone!
Great thing is, in the process of building the list, I have earned $97 for building the list and that was earned around the 200 subscriber mark. Imagine having a list of 30,000 subscribers?
Getting this list going is a nightmare but the great thing is that it is building with ad swaps, but I have been thinking of other ways to help boost the list which I will be revealing soon.
So you’re wondering what I am up to right now?……..Simply, building the list, more adswaps, more giveaways……. BUT I am starting work on my next list building project/product that I have been thinking about since the start of the year, it was on my goal list and now I plan to get it done! I feel that with the amount of ad swaps going on at the moment, you have to be a little smarter, have the right offer and continue to build a relationship with your newly inherited list of subscribers:)
Building a list is not a nightmare at all, it is like anything, expect a bit of hard work at the beginning, get it right and it will get going!
Be in touch real soon with another update (not in month or so!)
Take care
Sean

Hey Sean,
Great going so far, it gets easier to get adswaps as the list grows, and well done for making the $97.
It gives you the proof and drive you need to keep on going.
Tweaking this and that
I think there was a bit more than tweaking going on more like compleate overhaul every few days.(Glad your happy with it now).
Like the sound of your next project.
Talk soon,
James

Sean
Hope you’re well. See you have had the same provblem I’ve been suffering with – too much to do and not enough time!! I’ve been neglecting my blog too with everything else going on but have now updated it and made teh commitment to do so on a minimum of a weekly basis moving forwards.
Congratulations on the progress with your list – great to see you have made some money thus far whilst it builds. Not sure if you have seen Marcus’s ebook but hes had some good success with building his list and getting an income from it – I just need to follow in you guys footsteps and ramp up my activity!
Anyhow, let me know if/when you’re in Brum and hopefully we can arrange to get together and discuss plans/progress and set some JVs going.
All the best
Tom
